    On the afternoon of June 5, 2026, a delegation from the Graduate School of Education at Beijing Foreign Studies University (GSE, BFSU) visited the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in China at the invitation of the latter, and held a meeting with Helena Melchionna, Head of the Health, Education and Social Affairs. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on bilateral educational cooperation and reached a preliminary consensus on future collaboration in areas such as academic research, talent cultivation, and joint curriculum development.



    During the talks, Prof. Yuan Dayong, Dean of GSE, highlighted the School’s core research strengths in comparative education, higher education, curriculum and instruction, TVET, and educational technology. He noted that, by leveraging BFSU’s unique multilingual resources and extensive experience in Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Educational Programs, GSE is committed to cultivating education professionals with global vision and cross-cultural communication skills, while actively contributing to global education governance and South-South educational cooperation.

    Ms. Helena Melchionna expressed high appreciation for the academic portfolio and the philosophy of international cooperation of BFSU’s Graduate School of Education. The two sides exchanged views on potential areas for collaboration, including joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, training and exchange for primary and secondary school teachers, a China-Brazil university consortium, and the organization of international conferences on educational research and AI in education.

    The meeting laid a solid foundation for deeper educational cooperation between China and Brazil. Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining close communication and to translating the proposed initiatives into concrete actions, thereby advancing people-to-people exchanges and the joint development of education between the two countries.



    The attendees included Letícia Frazão Leme, Minister-Counsellor of the Brazilian Embassy in China; Júlia Zhao Wenyue, Assistant for Educational Affairs; Jáfia Naftali Câmara and Jia Nan, Associate Professors at BFSU’s Graduate School of Education; Xu Mo, Assistant Professor; and Meng Haoxuan, Ph.D. candidate.
